The great Namibian wilderness
Damaraland Camp is situated in the Huab River Valley in one of the best wilderness areas in Namibia, offering endless vistas across stark plains, ancient valleys and a stunning ochre-purple mountain backdrop.
The rare and endangered Desert Elephant frequents the area and about 85% of Damaraland Camp guests that stay 2 or more nights get to see these amazing desert giants. An African wildlife documentary film has even recorded these enormous Elephants surfing down the sand dunes in this part of northern Namibia!
Dining is all part of the experience here; not only are you served wonderful food, but the waiting staff translate the menu in the local dialect in Damaraland and click language. You are often graced with impromptu singing and dancing before dinner.
Activities at the camp
Activities at Damaraland Camp revolve around exploring the Huab River system, featuring guided nature drives and walks. Morning and afternoon drives in search for desert-adapted elephant are a great favorite. Gemsbok, greater kudu, springbok, and occasionally lion, cheetah, elephants and black rhino can be spotted. Interesting flora such as euphorbias and shepherd’s trees can be viewed on the way to some of Africa’s best known rock engravings, including the famous Twyfelfontein etchings.
